Amazon’s new building for HQ2 in Arlington, Virginia has been approved to International architecture firm NBBJ who designed a spiral-shaped glass tower covered with trees and walking trails, named The Helix.
With a projected size of 2,800,000 SF, the plan is to have three office buildings that will run on 100% renewable energy.
And despite the fact that people have been comparing this new building in social media with the “poop emoji” this massive space is planning on bringing more than 25,000 jobs to the Arlington area.
Recently was mentioned by Amazon team “We’d like to thank our Arlington neighbors and the County Board for their partnership and feedback through the years-long process of designing PenPlace, a project we believe will benefit the entire region. With the County Board’s approval, we look forward to continuing our work with the community as we take the next steps on this journey to build an integrated, innovative, and sustainable second headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.”
We are talking about an investment of $2.5 billion where the access for public and spaces throughout the site will focus in walking, beautiful landscape and retail rather than cars.
“Each of the streets surrounding the project will have dedicated entrances that bring bike commuters and visitors directly into the office buildings.” and in addition to the numerous retail and restaurants options, the project will also include a daycare, dog park and spaces for food trucks.
