British band Blossoms just released their 4th studio album “Ribbon around the bomb”, this past 29th of April. The title of the album was inspired by Mexico’s Frida Kahlo: “While on tour in 2019 in Mexico, I visited Frida Kahlo’s house,” said Blossoms’ songwriter Tom Ogden. “Looking at her paintings on show, someone had described one of them as being like a ‘ribbon around a bomb’. I immediately thought that it was a great title for a song and album because of the imagery that it evoked in my mind.” The album is made of 11 new songs, plus “Care for”, a standalone single released in August 2021.

Blossoms have been promoting the album’s release since January of this year when they released the single “Ribbon around the bomb” along with a video. Then, in February they released a second single, “Ode to NYC” also with a video. This was quickly followed by “The Sulking Poet” in March and “Everything about you” on May the 2nd.

On the live front, they will be launching the record in their hometown of Stockport, south Manchester, on May 3rd, followed by a couple of warming gigs in London on May 4th and 5th. After that, they’ll be playing at a few UK festivals in the Summer and supporting The Killers on their UK tour. A full North American tour has not been announced yet, except for a date in NY on August 16th and another in LA on August 18th. More are expected to come shortly.
