British band Blossoms just released their 4th studio album “Ribbon around the bomb”, this past 29th of April. The title of the album was inspired by Mexico’s Frida Kahlo: “While on tour in 2019 in Mexico, I visited Frida Kahlo’s house,” said Blossoms’ songwriter Tom Ogden. “Looking at her paintings on show, someone had described one of them as being like a ‘ribbon around a bomb’. I immediately thought that it was a great title for a song and album because of the imagery that it evoked in my mind.” The album is made of 11 new songs, plus “Care for”, a standalone single released in August 2021.
Blossoms have been promoting the album’s release since January of this year when they released the single “Ribbon around the bomb” along with a video. Then, in February they released a second single, “Ode to NYC” also with a video. This was quickly followed by “The Sulking Poet” in March and “Everything about you” on May the 2nd.
