The Rockin’ 1000 group was able to finally gather again after almost 3 years due to the pandemic to perform at the Stade De France in the city of Paris this last weekend. Among the 21 songs they performed there was one the collective dedicated to one drummer: Taylor Hawkins
It was 1000 musicians from 25 different countries coordinated to pay their respects to Foo Fighters drummer two months after his unfortunate death.
The Rockin’ 1000 is a group of rock musicians who play and sing simultaneously at their concerts. The group was originally assembled in July 2015 in Italy as a way to ask the Foo Fighters to visit the town of Cesena, Italy. Of course, the video went viral and caught Dave Grohl’s attention and the band performed later that year.
“To see you people, singing our song for the whole f—ing world, to me, it’s the greatest moment of my life,” Grohl told the crowd that day. “Of course we couldn’t say no, we had to come. You trapped us, we had to come here. I hope you do the same thing for U2, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, do it for all rock bands. And if they say no, you know what you say? Vaffanculo!“
