Mugshot of David Bowie’s arrest in 1976 with Iggy Pop was going up for auction.
According to some records, Bowie was arrested after a performance in Rochester, New York on drug charges when a half of pound of marihuana was confiscated by the NYPD.
Due to this, the iconic artist was held for a few hours, including his party friend Iggy Pop, and later released on a $2000 bail.
This photo of David Bowie was taken in the police station, on original Kodak paper, 9.5 x 9.5 cm.
It is believed the vendor’s cousin’s husband was a gentleman called Scott. He was the officer who fingerprinted and photographed David Bowie. He gave it to the vendor personally as a wedding present as he knew he was a Bowie fan. The vendor has been in possession of this photo for 46 years and has safely kept it hidden away.
