It was on May 14, 2016 when we were all enjoying the great lineup KROQ brought to their 2016 Weenie Roast edition that included incredible bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Empire Of The Sun, Panic! At The Disco, Garbage among others.

That day things were going great at the 1-Day show from the LA-based radio station at the Irvine Meadows Ampitheatre in the city of Irvine, CA. With the opening acts of Bear Hands, Bishop, Nothing But Thieves, The Strumbellas, Lukas Graham, Milke Snow and Fitz and the Tantrums.

Garbage - Shirley's fall!

Shirley Manson and gang were giving a great show, playing songs “#1 Crush” and “Push It” the crowd was singing along with the band. But it was during the performance of “Special” with a Shirley singing and walking from one side to another on stage when she didn’t see a step on stage that made her stumble and ended up on top of the photographers!

Being the professional she is, she kept singing and finish the song from the photo pit.

Red Hot Chili Peppers had to cancel due to illness

Sadly for everyone that day, the headliner of Weenie Roast, Red Hot Chili Peppers, had to cancel minutes before their turn on stage.

Flea, Chad and John still were cool enough to grab the mic on stage and explained that Anthony Kiedis was rushed to hospital due to abdominal pain.

Because of this, Weezer that played before them, had to basically extend their performance and came out again on stage for a second set.

Weezer to the rescue!

As we mentioned, due to the RHCP cancelling their show, Weezer basically gave a complete show like they were the headliners and their set included a total of 13 songs such as “Island In The Sun“, “Beverly Hills“, “Hash Pipe“, “Undone – The Sweater Song“, “Buddy Holly” and to finish “Say It Ain’t So

Blink-182 surprise appearance!

After this long, very long introduction, now let’s talk about the main topic of this article, Blink-182!

It was right before the turn for Empire Of The Sun performance when the circled stage was moving and on the speakers started this aggressive and fast drum beat that didn’t sound anything close to Empire’s Of The Sun style…

And, to the surprise of everyone they were there, Mark Hoppus, Matt Skiba and Travis Barker of Blink-182 surprising the crowd!

They played a total of 13 songs that included “Family Reunion“,
The Rock Show“, “Feeling This” the live debut of “Built This Pool“, “All the Small Things“, another live debut
Brohemian Rhapsody“, the awesome song “What’s My Age Again?” and to finish “Dammit

It was definitely a great surprise to everyone that unintentionally compensated the cancellation of the Red Hot Chili Peppers after all.
