The intense heat didn't stop attendees to have fun!
When we got the invitation to celebrate the 175 Anniversary of the city of Nuevo Laredo in México we didn’t think twice and prepared our gear to cross the border and went straight to the Benito Juarez monument where thousands of people were gathering for a celebration that included food, games and live music.
The current administration led by Major Carmen Lilia Canturosas has been working very hard to bring all kind of different events to the city to make sure the residents of both Laredos, on the Mexican and US sides, always have entertainment for the whole family.
And this time, the city’s 175 Anniversary party wasn’t the exception!
The event included three great musical acts being, Aleks Syntek, Fey, and group Kumbia Kings. These bands covered the music taste of everyone, pop, rock, cumbia, hip-hop and R&B.
And although the temperature in the city was reaching 113 Fahrenheit, this didn’t stop the thousands of goers to bring their families to have a great time.
Dear friends, we were there and this is what we saw on stage.
ALEKS SYNTEK
The first artist to jump on stage was Mexican producer, composer, and singer Aleks Syntek.
Syntek didn’t want to waste time and his show a hit after another hit. He started his performance with song “Sin Motor”, “Duele El Amor”, and “Historias De Danzon”.
Joined on stage by a full band of great musicians and singers, Syntek delivered a great show interacting with the crowd between every song and joking around. Such is the case of one of his jingles for a ketchup brand that went viral on TikTok and as of today he hasn’t seen a cent from royalties of it.
He continued his show with “Bendito Tu Corazón”, “Por Volverte A Ver”, and “Te Soñe” and demonstrated his skills as a musician, jumping from the piano, to the guitar, banjo, double bass, and percussions.
For almost an hour, Syntek sang and delivered a great show that concluded with “Sexo Pudor Y Lagrimas”, “Tu Necesitas” with a mix of 70s and 80s hits, “De Noche En La Ciudad” and to finish his great show, “Viviendo De Noche”.
FEY
Later that night it was the turn to 90s sensation Fey, who was anxiously waited for many hardcore fans backstage to see her arrival and maybe talk to her or if you were lucky enough, get a photo with her. Which did happen, including our photographer!
The Mexican singer delighted thousands of fans with her greatest hits of the 90s proving that she is still one of the queens of Latin pop.
The audience did not stop dancing and singing with songs like “La Noche Se Mueve”, “Frío”, “Barco A Venus” and “Me Enamoro De Ti”
Fey was very close and grateful to her fans and even invited some to the stage to share a special moment.
But the show hit its peak when the singer sang “Gatos En El Balcón”, “Media Naranja”, “Azúcar amargo” and “Muévelo”
The show was an explosion of light, color, and energy, which reminded us why Fey is a unique and unparalleled artist.
KUMBIA KINGS
There’s no other way to define Kumbia Kings’ show other than a real PARTY from start to finish!
It was a show with a repertoire full of hits that made us dance and sing non-stop. The Kumbia Kings showed why they are the kings of cumbia, with their energy, charisma, and talent.
The audience accompanied them in each song, chanting the lyrics and applauding the choreographies. The atmosphere was one of pure joy and fun, you could feel the connection between the artist and the fans.
Songs “Mi Gente”, “Shhh”, “Dime Quién?”, “Fuiste Mala” and , were just part of the beginning on the show but when it was the turn for “Sabes A Chocolate”, “Mi Dulce Niña” and “Reggae Kumbia” the audience went euphoric.
It was definitely a big party that Major Carmen Lilia Canturosas brought to the community and we cannot wait for the shows she’s already planning for the next festivities in the city.
