A majestic band at a majestic venue!

We had the most amazing experience last night at the Hollywood Bowl, where we witnessed a historic collaboration between Café Tacvba, the LA Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel.

We knew this kind of show it was one of those you just can’t miss so, we prepared our luggage and flew from San Antonio, TX straight to Los Angeles, CA to be part of this magical event.

It was a musical feast that celebrated the diversity and richness of Latin American culture, with songs that ranged from rock to folk to cumbia to bolero.

GUSTAVO DUDAMEL & LA PHIL

The night started with the performance of the LA Phil with Gustavo Dudamel for about 30 phenomenal minutes.

The orchestra played with such passion and precision, and Dudamel’s charisma and energy were contagious. The program was a mix of classical and contemporary pieces, showcasing the diversity and versatility of the LA Phil. They played 3 pieces being these, Gabriela Ortiz’s “Kauyumari”, from Alberto Ginastera “Four Dances From Estancia”, Johann Strauss’ II “Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka”.

CAFÉ TACVBA

It was a little bit after 9pm when the band from México appeared on stage. There they were, Rubén Albarrán, Meme Del Real, Joselo and Quique Rangel, joined by Ramiro Del Real and Luis “Children” Ledezma ready to deliver a great show as they always do!

Café Tacvba, one of the most influential and innovative bands in Latin America, delivered a stunning performance that showcased their versatility and creativity. They played some of their classic hits like “Las Batallas”, “Rarotona”, “Eres”, ” “Las Flores”, and “El Baile Y El Salón” as well as some newer songs from their latest album such as “Futuro”.

The LA Philharmonic, led by the charismatic and talented Gustavo Dudamel, added a symphonic dimension to the show, creating beautiful arrangements that enhanced the emotional impact of the songs.

Dudamel, who is from Venezuela, transmitted joy from stage while playing together with the Mexican band, to the point he joined them dancing a part of song “El Puñal Y El Corazón”, it was a fun moment to see!

The chemistry between the musicians was palpable, and they seemed to have a lot of fun on stage. The crowd was ecstatic, singing along, dancing and cheering throughout the night. It was a magical night that we will never forget, and we feel so lucky to have been there.

Until next time and que siga el taconazo…!
