An impressive show you don't want to miss!
Another great sold-out show we just covered at the Aztec Theatre in San Antonio, TX with the incredible performances of Thundercat who electrified the stage on a magical night as part of the “In Yo Girls City Tour 2023” which is about to conclude the North American tour before continuing their journey in Brazil.
The show in San Antonio was a night to remember, characterized by an eclectic mix of genres, impressive musicianship, and the undeniable charisma of Thundercat on stage. The infectious synergy left the audience with an unforgettable memory, proving that music knows no boundaries and that talent knows no limits.
DJ BAD APPLE
The night kicked off with DJ Bad Apple’s show. It was a rollercoaster of sonic excitement. With a deft touch on the decks, Appolonia Chukwu known as DJ Bad Apple, mixed genres effortlessly, delivering a high-energy performance that had the crowd pulsating with every beat. Her track selection was diverse and unpredictable, creating an atmosphere where everyone could find a favorite groove. The visuals and lighting design complemented the music beautifully, immersing the audience in a multi-sensory experience.
THUNDERCAT
The clock was showing 9:00 PM when Stephen Lee Bruner, known by his stage name Thundercat, appeared in front of the crowd below a huge inflatable Thundercats cartoon figure. Bruner is a big fan of anime and cartoons, and his stage name was taken from the 1985 cartoon series Thundercats.
From the moment he took the stage, his magnetic stage presence and quirky charm captured the hearts of the crowd. Armed with his signature six-string bass, he effortlessly navigated intricate melodies and mind-bending basslines, displaying his extraordinary dexterity and mastery of the instrument. His falsetto vocals were equally awe-inspiring, adding an ethereal layer to his performance.
The virtuoso bassist and singer who has collaborated with other big names such as Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, Gorillaz and Tame Impala, brought his unique blend of funk, soul, and jazz to the stage. With his trademark six-string bass in hand, he showcased unparalleled musicianship. His fingers danced across the strings, producing intricate and hypnotic melodies that seemed to effortlessly flow through the night. The audience swayed and grooved to his irresistible basslines, and Thundercat’s signature falsetto vocals soared with ethereal grace.
Accompanied by a talented live band, Dennis Hamm on Keyboards and Justin Brown on drums, Thundercat delved into his eclectic discography, seamlessly blending elements of funk, soul, jazz, and electronica.
