Starting 2024 with big doses of Metal!
Last night we started our year with a great concert at The Aztec Theatre with the imponent presence of Zack Sabbath commanded by the legendary Zakk Wylde (lead guitarist for Ozzy Osborne and founder of Black Label Society) together with bass player John Jd DeServio and drummer Joey Castillo who delivered a show filled with big doses of metal that kept the audience singing and headbanging during their whole show!
We couldn’t miss the opportunity to see Zakk and gang so we got our gear and drove to “The Aztec” to enjoy this one-of-a-kind show.
LEON SANCHEZ
The night started with Leon Sanchez who played some great covers just holding an electro-acoustic guitar and a loop effect pedal.
The original opening act was going to be The Native Howl who sadly got their instruments and gear stolen in Dallas! Fortunately, their equipment was found later that night, but not quick enough to make it to San Antonio.
Sanchez warmed engines inside the venue playing songs of The Beatles, Audioslave, The Doors, Kings Of Leon and others wich kept the crowd singing during his performance.
ZAKK SABBATH
It was 8:47 when the lights at the venue were turned off and the members of Zakk Sabbath appeared on stage. The crowd went crazy!
Zakk Sabbath’s show was a mesmerizing journey into the heart of classic Black Sabbath, transcending mere tribute with exceptional musicianship and a captivating stage presence. Zakk Wylde, a guitar maestro in his own right, led the charge with unparalleled skill, channeling the spirit of Tony Iommi’s and Randy Rhoads’ legendary riffs. The performance was a sonic feast, as the band flawlessly recreated the heavy, ominous atmosphere of Sabbath’s iconic catalog.
What set Zakk Sabbath apart was their genuine love for the material. Each member contributed to the authenticity of the experience, from the thundering bass lines of John Jd DeServio to the precision on drums by Joey Castillo. The energy was palpable, and the audience was immersed in the timeless classics like “War Pigs”, “Supernaut” and “Under The Sun.”
Beyond the musical prowess, Zakk Sabbath injected a dose of their own charisma into the performance. Wylde’s engaging interactions with the crowd and the band’s collective enthusiasm created an electric atmosphere, uniting fans in a shared celebration of Black Sabbath’s legacy.
Zakk Sabbath’s show wasn’t just a nostalgic trip; it was a testament to the enduring power of Black Sabbath’s music and the skill of these seasoned musicians. Whether you were a die-hard Sabbath fan or a newcomer, Zakk Sabbath’s live experience was a thrilling homage that resonated with the essence of heavy metal history.
