High doses of Metal in Austin!
Yesterday we had the incredible opportunity to witness Megadeth’s “Destroy All Enemies” Tour at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater in Austin, Texas, and dear friends, it was amazing! Despite the high temperature above the 100’s, the vibe was intense and exciting. They delivered a night of pure metal mayhem that fans won’t soon forget. With an epic lineup featuring All That Remains, Mudvayne, and the legendary Megadeth, the show promised an unforgettable experience from start to finish.
Austin’s metalheads turned out in full force, packing the venue with an energy that was palpable from the moment the doors opened. The crowd was a sea of band tees, all eagerly awaiting the sonic assault that was about to unfold. This tour was a celebration of heavy music at its finest, with each band bringing its unique flavor of metal to the stage. From the opening riffs to the final encore, the night was an intense journey through the sounds that have defined the genre for decades. It was a night of relentless energy, iconic performances, and a powerful sense of community among metal fans.
ALL THAT REMAINS
Kicking off the evening, from Massachusetts, All That Remains set the tone with a fierce performance that had the crowd instantly engaged. Their blend of metalcore and melodic death metal was a perfect opener, with frontman Phil Labonte’s powerful vocals driving the energy. The band tore through hits like “Two Weeks” and “This Calling,” with the crowd shouting along to every word. The guitar work was tight and aggressive, laying down a heavy foundation that had heads banging throughout the set.
MUDVAYNE
Mudvayne took the stage next, bringing their signature mix of nu-metal and progressive elements to the forefront. The band was in top form, with Chad Gray’s distinctive vocals cutting through the heavy riffs and complex rhythms. The crowd went wild as they launched into “Dig,” “Silenced” and “Not Falling”, with some mosh pits exploding in different sections of the venue.
The band’s performance was intense and visually striking, with their theatrical stage presence adding an extra layer of excitement to the show and moving nonstop from one side to the other on stage so fans could see all the members close to them. With a total of 11 songs, singer Chad, guitarist Greg Tribbett, bassist Ryan Martinie, and drummer Matthew McDonough delivered an impressive show to thousands of fans who didn’t stop screaming and singing along with the band.
MEGADETH
By the time Megadeth hit the stage right before 9:00 PM, the anticipation was at a fever pitch. The iconic Dave Mustaine and company did not disappoint, delivering a blistering set that spanned their illustrious career. The moment the big curtain on stage dropped, the crowd erupted into cheers as the band launched into their opening riff with “The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!”.
The lights blazed, and the energy in the venue skyrocketed as the music hit, sending waves of excitement through the audience. It was a powerful start to what would be an unforgettable rock concert. Followed by “Dread and the Fugitive Mind” and “Angry Again”, the audience was engaged from the very first chords, singing along with every lyric and headbanging to the rhythm.
Of course, classics like “Symphony of Destruction” and “Holy Wars” ignited the crowd, with every riff and solo executed to perfection. The band’s musicianship was unmatched, and Mustaine’s vocals were as fierce as ever. The crowd’s energy mirrored the band’s intensity, creating a powerful connection that electrified the entire venue.
