Produced and mixed by Evan Smith, known for his work with Bleachers, Kendrick Lamar, and Lana Del Rey, and mastered by seven-time Latin Grammy winner Adam Ayan, this much-anticipated release showcases the band’s signature alt-pop sound, combining nostalgic 80s influences with a modern edge. The single’s impact has already been recognized, as it has been featured on Apple Music’s official playlists “Nuevo Nuevo” and “Alternative Music,” further cementing Montufar’s growing presence in the alt-pop scene.

SUÉTER” tells a poignant story of two people who meet by accident, fall deeply in love, and later drift apart. The song explores the bittersweet emotions of unexpectedly encountering someone you still love but feeling paralyzed by fear and unable to speak. This emotional depth, paired with the track’s captivating production, is sure to resonate with listeners.

The Origins Of Montufar

Formed in 2019 by siblings Víctor and Marifer Montufar, the duo began their musical journey crafting demos in their bedroom. Over the years, they have gained recognition for their unique style and collaborations with industry heavyweights, including Evan Smith (Bleachers), John Waugh (The 1975), Pipe Ceballos (Zoé/León Larregui), Rodrigo Guardiola (Zoé), and Jerónimo Quintana (Celest). Their music has drawn comparisons to 80s icons while carving out a distinct, contemporary sound in the alt-pop genre.

Montufar’s career milestones include the 2021 release of their debut single, “Ojos,” recorded at Chapel Studios, and their breakthrough 2022 single, “Escaparnos,” which landed them a feature on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Latin playlist. In 2023, the duo’s live performances marked another turning point, playing to sold-out crowds, headlining a show in Mexico City, and opening for Jesse & Joy in San Antonio, TX.
