Celebration of Latin Indie Sound and Style!

On a warm summer night in San Antonio, Buscabulla brought their signature fusion of
synth-pop, Caribbean rhythm, and dreamlike visuals to a sold-out crowd at Paper Tiger, and they didn’t come alone. Opening the night was Vale, a Colombian duo whose heartfelt performance set the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening.

The much-anticipated “Se Amaba Así Tour” made its stop in town, delivering an experience that felt like stepping into another world. Fans poured in early, buzzing with excitement to see the Puerto Rican duo Buscabulla, whose dreamy, genre-bending sound has earned them a cult following.

San Antonio’s music scene has long celebrated diversity and boundary-pushing artistry. Paper Tiger, known for hosting some of the city’s most unique and intimate performances, offered a perfect testament to that last night. Fans of all ages and backgrounds came together under the glow of Paper Tiger’s lights, eager to get lost in music that speaks to both the heart and the hips.

VALE

The Colombian sister duo Vale (Valeria and Valentina) opened the evening with a set that immediately drew the crowd in with its intimate, warm, and soulful vibe. With smooth vocals layered over rich, atmospheric instrumentation, Vale crafted an emotional journey that felt both personal and universal.

With harmonies rich in emotion, they performed songs like “Todo Lo Que Quería,” “Corazón Entero,” “Ojos Verdes,” and others that showcased their smooth vocal chemistry and Latin-pop sensibility. Despite being lesser-known to some in the audience, Vale quickly won them over with their sincerity and soul, a duo to keep an eye on.

BUSCABULLA

Se Amaba Así Tour

As the lights dimmed and Buscabulla prepared to take the stage, the energy in the room shifted. Hailing from Puerto Rico, Buscabulla (the project of husband-wife duo Raquel Berrios and Luis Alfredo Del Valle) emerged to a sea of cheers. From the moment they launched into “El Camino,” “Miraverahí,” and “NTE,” the crowd was locked in. The band’s visual setup, an atmospheric light show pulsing in sync with the music, added a hypnotic layer to their lush, synth-heavy sound.

Raquel’s ethereal vocals floated above the crowd, weaving through hits both new and old. The band’s ability to blend dreamy electronic textures with tropical rhythms felt both experimental and deeply rooted in identity. Standouts from the new album got strong reactions, but one of the loudest cheers came when they performed “Andrea,” their collaboration with Bad Bunny. The song, already a fan favorite, hit differently live, intimate yet powerful, with the crowd singing along to every word.

Throughout the set, Buscabulla’s charisma was undeniable. Whether dancing across the stage or interacting playfully with the crowd, they created a space that felt celebratory and safe. A gathering of people connected by shared culture, sound, and emotion.

The Paper Tiger, though modest in size, felt transformed by the performance. Lights flickered in pastels and deep reds, mirroring the emotional flow of the set. Every detail, from the transitions to the visuals, was intentional and immersive. The performance wasn’t just a concert; it was an experience.

CARIBBEAN DREAMWEAVERS!

Buscabulla, meaning “troublemaker” in Puerto Rican slang, is the stunning collaboration of Raquel Berrios and Luis Alfredo Del Valle. Formed in Brooklyn before returning to Puerto Rico, the duo found their sound in the rich crossroads of heritage and experimentation.

Their music is an intoxicating blend of vintage Latin rhythms, 80s synth-pop, and dreamy indie sensibilities. But what truly sets them apart is their deep-rooted sense of identity. Their lyrics often explore themes of migration, nostalgia, cultural pride, and the complexity of island life in the modern world.

After early EPs turned heads with their originality, Buscabulla’s 2020 debut album, “Regresa,” solidified them as one of Latin indie’s most important voices. The record was a love letter to Puerto Rico—raw, beautiful, and defiant in the face of the island’s challenges.

Now, with their “Se Amaba Así” era, Buscabulla continues to evolve while staying true to their roots. Their live shows are renowned for immersive, emotional experiences that turn venues into dream worlds.

By the end of the night, fans lingered, soaking in the last notes, hoping the moment would last a little longer. Buscabulla proved once again why they’re one of the most captivating acts in the Latin alternative scene, pushing boundaries, embracing vulnerability, and bringing people together through bold, beautiful soundscapes. With support from a rising act like Vale, and a crowd that gave just as much energy as they received, the San Antonio stop of this tour was more than just a show, it was a memory, a vibe, and a reminder of how powerful live music can be.
