And just like they said ‘All Good Things Must Come to An End’, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2022 was not the exception and yesterday was the last day of Weekend 2 of this incredible music festival.

The giant promoter Goldenvoice didn’t hesitate in bringing a great lineup this year, and despite the cancellation for 2 years due to a pandemic, the last headliners changes, and the suspense if it was happening or not, this festival’s edition was a total hit!

Thru the years, this festival has been adapting to worldwide music and it is great to see the huge variety of styles we get to enjoy for a few days on the desert every April.

From pop to rock, from punk to country, from rap to reggaeton! There is a little bit of everything to everyone’s taste and you just have to let yourself go where the windy sand takes you.

FRIDAY

Friday, weather was a little bit cold, but Brazilian singer Annita made sure to heat up the moment with her dancing. During the performance of song “Envolver”, thousands of fans got all excited when she did the moves that went viral to the point the #AnnitaChallenge has been a trending topic. If you don’t know what we are talking about, look for it!

Idles, what can we say, the British-Irish rock band really gave one hell of a show and front man Joe Talbot always kept the audience right on the edge with every song they played. First timers, Grupo Firme from Mexico trowed an awesome show and had their audience dancing the whole time. Another Latin/US band, The Marias with Puerto Rican lead singer Maria Zardoya gave a show full of chill vibes and fans sang along with them. Full of energy and color, Louis The Child started an amazing show the second they put a step on stage.

The first night of this weekend ended with a great performance of Harry Styles. Good music, amazing musicians and a charismatic Styles that knows how to keep his fans entertained the whole duration of his show. A special appearance of Lizzo to sing “I Will Survive” and “What Makes You Beautiful” from One Direction was one of the special moments during the end of day one.

SATURDAY

Since early on Saturday, it was very clear the festival was going to be packed due to Billie Eilish closing the night. Attendees of all ages started arriving as soon as they opened the gates and every show during the day was packed. We were able to see 20 bands that day and it was exhausting but hey, that’s why we loved Coachella!

Started with the beats of Loboman X Massio, followed by Masego’s funk and then the Mexican folk of Ed Maverick the day was looking great. Angelinos Wallows show was full of energy, same as Mannequin Pussy’s punk/rock. Girl In Red, unstoppable, her loyal fans jumped and sang along during her show.

From there we ran to the other side of the field and we were lucky enough to be so close to the stage too see electronic duo, Disclosure. An amazing show full of great songs that keep you dancing the whole time. Danny Elfman, we don’t know how to describe his presentation. Crazy genius, accompanied by an orchestra and all kind of psychedelic images on screen, it jumped from playing rock to Edward Scissorhands theme, The Simpsons and others blockbusters movies.

Megan Thee Stallion, incredible, a show full of energy and lots of twerking that drives everyone crazy. To end Saturday night, it was the turn for her new majesty Billie Eilish. A total of 25 songs, that included electronic and acoustic sets, and the special presentation of Hailey Williams during “Misery Business” and last song of her performance “Happier Than Ever” left her thousands of fans the same way, happier than ever to be able to see and enjoy Billie’s great show!

SUNDAY

By Sunday, things were a little bit slower compared to the previews ones, but the excitement of another day full of music was definitely there.

We started with the beautiful Mariah The Scientist with her amazing R&B voice followed by pop artist Olivia Brian. Main stage was getting ready for Mexican Banda MS that put everyone to dance. They turned Coachella to a great party! On the other side of the field it was the turn for Finneas. A fresh and breezy performance despite backing sister Billie Eilish until late the previous night. Known to be a great musician, he played songs in guitar, others in piano and others by singing while walking or laying on his piano.

A wave of blue wigs started to invade the field announcing it was the turn of the “bichota” Karol G. Colombian singer took over the stage and crowd and we can honestly say it was one of the best shows during the festival. Right after singing a list of old Latin hits through the years that included Selena’s Quintanilla “Como La FLor”, Celia’s Cruz “Carnaval”, Ricky Martin “Maria” among others, Karol G brought on stage Becky G to sing her latest single “Mamiii” and then another surprise act of J Balvin that sang “Mi Gente”.

From there, we went to see the Italian rock band Måneskin and dear friends, if you ever have a chance to see them live, do it. A show saturated with energy and rock with a real frontman Damiano David that maintains the crowd filled with adrenaline. Another Mexican artist that performed that night was Natanel Cano with his “corridos tumbados”, a mix of traditional corridos with hip-hop and trap. For some, this is some kind of music aberration but, there is taste for everyone. For us that was the end of the festival because we had to drive a few hours back to LA where we are taking our flight back to Texas, but, after attending Coachella for the 13th time, we can say it was a great festival with lots of new bands, new music, new friends and expectations for a great 2023 edition.
