What a way to celebrate Mother’s Day in San Antonio!

Two of the biggest exponents of Pop and Rock from México shared the stage tonight at The Majestic Theater and words cannot describe the great night we all had. We are talking about Alejandra Guzmán and Paulina Rubio who left the rivalry they had behind, or at least that’s what we all think, and joined forces to bring an amazing show.

The evening started with both singers on stage at 8pm sharp with “Ni Tu Ni Nadie”, cover from Spanish band Alaska Y Dinarama, and it was just a good preamble of what was coming ahead.

Right after the first song, Guzman left the stage to leave Rubio by herself to start her first set of songs that included hits like “Te Quise Tanto”, “Nada Fué Un Error”, “Lo Haré Por Ti” and “Yo No Soy Esa Mujer”.

It was clear to see Rubio was excited and really enjoying the show because it was a little difficult to hear the singer’s voice since the crowd was singing along with her every song at the top of their lungs.

“Causa Y Efecto” and a mix of “Casanova” and an English version of “Si Tu Te Vas” with “Boys Will Be Boys” together with ballad “Tal Vez Quizas” were the last songs of her first set.

It was the turn for nicknamed “Queen of Rock” Alejandra Guzmán!

Opening song “Mírala, Míralo” drove everyone crazy and Guzmán took us back to the fun days of the 90’s. A small introduction mentioning she has always been considered the black sheep of her famous family, laughing she said “Ok, I am the black sheep, here you have Mala Hierba” (Bad weed)

Happy to be singing during Mother’s Day, Guzmán took a minute to sing a small acapella part of “Yo Te Esperaba”, song that was inspired during her pregnancy with daughter Frida Sofía.

Songs like “Ten Cuidado Con El Corazón”, “Hay Un Diablo En Mi” and “Volverte A Amar” were some of her set songs before playing “Quiero Más De Ti”, song she happily expressed was produced by her. She mentioned she is an independent artist now and encouraged musicians to be independent as well.

Both singers returned on stage to perform “Es Por Amor”, cover by Argentinian band GIT and again Rubio began her second set that included songs such as “Nena”, cover from Miguel Bosé, “Ni Rosas Ni Juguetes”, “Dame Otro Tequila” and accompanied by accordionist she sang “Golpes En El Corazón” from Los Tigres Del Norte.

Rubio then turned things to transport everyone to her early years with “La Ranchera”, “Acelerar”, “México” and “Con Todos Menos Conmigo” from her days with Timbiriche during the 80’s. And to finish her set “Sexy Dance”, “Algo Tienes” and “Y Yo Sigo Aquí”.

The party continued when Guzmán again put a foot on stage to perform her 90’s hits “Eternamente Bella” “Un Grito En La Noche” and acclaimed song “Hacer El Amor Con Otro”.

The show end up with both singers back again on stage to perform a fun mix of “Hey Guera” and “Mio”. Song that started the whole rivalry between them with Eric Rubin as the boyfriend they were fitting for.

It was a total of 3 amazing hours that Guzmán and Rubio brought to the people of San Antonio, TX to a sold out show at The Majestic Theater.
