U2 kicked off Las Vegas residency "U2: UV Achtung Baby"
Last night we had the fortune of witnessing what many are saying could be the future of live music and the whole experience was definitely surreal.
It was the second show of U2 at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada as part of their U2:Uv Achtung Baby Residency which will have a total of 25 dates until December 2023 and we cannot say anything else but WOW!
U2, with Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and current drummer Bram van den Berg while Larry Mullen Jr. recovers from back surgery, delivered an incredible show at an impressive venue making the perfect combination for a show of this magnitude.
For a little bit more than two hours and 22 songs, the sold-out show fulfilled the expectations of the almost 20,000 fans who attended this unique concert, and my dear friends, it was fantastic!
Here we wanted to tell you what we saw and bring you some photos we hope you enjoy.
THE SPHERE
The 2.3 Billion dollar venue is undoubtedly a work of (tech) art.
It is the largest spherical structure in the world with a height of 336 feet and 516 feet wide. It utilizes a 160,000 wraparound LED display and an impressive quantity of 164,000 speakers along with 4D capabilities that surround every single seat inside.
As music lovers, the way each of the members of the band sounded was amazing. It was loud and powerful but without killing your ears. The images on the screen were moving around along with a guitar (panning) attached to it, very impressive.
There are bars and bathrooms everywhere making your visit very pleasant.
U2 - The Show
After a long wait with a DJ playing in a neon car that was moving around in the general admission crowd, it was 9:05 PM when the notes of song “Lemon Remix” started to play in the venue announcing the show was about to start.
And at 9:10 the iconic rock Irish band was on stage!
The band rocked the stage with their classic hits. The sound quality was incredible, thanks to the spherical shape of the venue which creates a 360-degree immersive experience. The crowd was singing along, dancing and cheering for every song. The U2:UV Achtung Baby, Live at Sphere stage is based on ‘Turntable’ by their long-time collaborator and producer, Brian Eno.
The show was basically split in 4 sections while the band took us on a trip to the “Achtung Baby” days as well to the “Joshua Tree”, “How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb”, and “Rattle And Hum” albums.
Enjoy some of the images we were able to capture last night.
