Fans from across Latin America sang every word!

Outside the Smart Financial Center in Sugar Land, TX, people were already singing before the doors even opened. Couples in their forties stood next to younger fans who grew up hearing Alejandro Sanz in the car with their parents. Groups carried flags from México, Colombia, Venezuela, Perú, Honduras, and Costa Rica. Everyone seemed to have their own story attached to his music. You could hear little pieces of conversation while the crowd waited in line. Someone talking about seeing him for the first time in the late ‘90s. Others have been following him everywhere, like the group of fans from Monterrey, México, “Mexicanas De Sanz” whom we met. They even had a moment with Sanz before the show started. Someone else hoping he would play “Mi Soledad Y Yo.” There was excitement, but it felt calm too, like people already knew they were about to spend the night with songs that meant something real to them.

When the lights finally dropped, the reaction came instantly. Phones went up, people stood without hesitation, and Alejandro Sanz walked into the room with the confidence of someone who has done this for decades but still enjoys every second of it. Starting with “Desde Cuando,” “Capitán Tapón,” and “Por Bandera” was a smart move. The energy came alive quickly, but there was still enough space for the emotion in the lyrics to settle over the crowd.

¿Y AHORA QUÉ? TOUR

Alejandro Sanz never rushed the night. That was probably the best thing about this show. Even with more than twenty songs in the setlist, everything felt relaxed and natural. He moved through different moods without making it feel too polished or rehearsed. One moment he was smiling and joking with fans near the barricade, the next he was standing still under a single spotlight while thousands of people sang back every word to “Mi Soledad Y Yo.

His connection with the audience felt genuine from the beginning. Throughout the show, he kept walking toward the edge of the stage to shake hands, grab gifts, sign items, and accept roses from fans who had probably waited years for that moment. None of it looked forced. It felt like he understood exactly who came to see him and why these songs still matter so much.

Vocally, he sounded strong all night. There was grit in the heavier moments, but also softness during songs like “A La Primera Persona” and “Lo Ves.” Instead of trying to overpower the room, he let the crowd fill in the space. During “Amiga Mía,” “Cuando Nadie Me Ve,” and “El Alma Al Aire,” the entire venue became one massive chorus. It almost stopped feeling like a concert at times. It sounded more like thousands of people remembering different stages of their lives together.

The band and chorists deserve a lot of credit too. The arrangements stayed faithful to the originals while still feeling alive and fresh onstage. Small instrumental moments gave the songs room to breathe, especially during the more emotional sections of the set. Nothing felt overproduced. The musicians simply supported the songs in the right ways.

Toward the end of the night, the energy shifted upward again. “Y, ¿Si Fuera Ella?” and “Lo Ves” brought another emotional wave before Sanz closed with a lively pop-dance version of “Corazón Partío.” Confetti exploded across the venue while people danced in the aisles and screamed every lyric back at him. Ending with “Pisando Fuerte” afterward felt perfect. It sent everyone home smiling instead of sitting too long in nostalgia.

A Crowd That Knew Every Word

One of the most interesting parts of the night was hearing how international the crowd was. Spanish accents mixed with voices from all over Latin America and Texas. Some fans waved flags while others simply held onto each other during the slower songs. It reminded everyone how deeply Alejandro Sanz’s music travels across generations and borders. Even people who came from different countries seemed connected through the same lyrics. There were moments when Alejandro barely needed to sing because the audience completely carried the chorus for him. Not many artists can create that kind of atmosphere after this many years. It felt less like a casual concert crowd and more like a community gathering around songs they have lived with for decades.

The Poet Behind The Hits

Alejandro Sanz first broke through in the early ‘90s, but his music never stayed tied to one era. Born in Madrid, Spain, he built his career by mixing pop, flamenco, and Latin ballads in a way that felt personal instead of manufactured. His songwriting has always been the reason fans stay connected. Even his biggest hits carry small details and emotional honesty that make people feel seen.

Over the years, he collaborated with artists across different genres and generations, but his identity as a songwriter never disappeared behind trends. That balance helped him last while many artists from his era faded away. Fans continue showing up because his songs still sound human. They still feel like conversations people have with themselves late at night or during long drives home.

Walking out of the venue, people were still singing, loud! Some were replaying videos on their phones while others talked about which song hit them the hardest. The mood outside felt warm and almost reflective. Alejandro Sanz did not rely on giant production tricks or nonstop spectacle to hold attention for two hours. The songs were enough. The crowd was enough.

What made this concert work so well was how comfortable everything felt. No pretending, no exaggerated drama, just a veteran artist standing in front of an audience that genuinely cares about the music. That connection carried the entire night. For many people in the room, these songs have lived beside birthdays, breakups, marriages, road trips, and family memories. Hearing them together again in Sugar Land felt meaningful in a very simple way. Sometimes that is all a concert really needs to be.
